A background check is a process a person or company uses to verify that an individual is who they claim to be, and this provides an opportunity to check and confirm the validity of someone's criminal record, education, employment history, and other activities from their past.
Starting September 1st, 2023, Cal North members will pay upfront for the background check in GotSport. When the background check process is completed, Cal North will reimburse our members for the cost of the background check. This change will minimize the number of candidates using the Cal North platform and ensure our members still get this benefit for free.

Yes. A background check expires after one year.
Background Checks are done annually. Each year coaches will need to complete a background check whether a returning or a new coach.
After you submit your report in GotSport for your background check, two things will happen. You will now have a status as "Pending" in GotSport, AND you will receive an email sent to you from our background check provider, JDP. The email will include a link to take the background check. If you do not click this link to the take the background check you will remain in a pending status until complete or voided due to expiration. If you are experiencing any issues with your status for your background check, please reach out to you member service representative.

If you have had a status of "Pending" for more than 2 weeks on your background check, please reach out to your Member Service Representative as there may have been an issue.
