Chairman’s Message: Welcome to the 2017-2018 Season

Greetings players, parents and fellow members of Cal North. The 2017/2018 youth soccer season will arrive soon.

We are continuing our commitment to work together with you in the development and promotion of soccer for all youth in Northern California. As always, “Kids First” remains our common goal with a commitment to provide the most safe and positive environment possible for our children.

The Cal North Website is the most useful resource about Cal North. provides information on programs, operations, and the valuable people available to provide service to you and our membership. It contains a wealth of facts, including our Constitution and Bylaws, a summary of our insurance coverage, rules of competition, coaching information, and advice for participation in youth soccer programs. The contact directory tells you who to contact for information and how to contact them at the District, State and National levels (US Youth Soccer and U.S. Soccer).

Cal North offers a diverse range of programs and opportunities available to the various levels of play (recreational through competitive). We provide state-wide competition for all players through the Cal North Founders’ Cup, Cal North Association Cup, Cal North Presidents Cup and Cal North State Cup. We offer the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for the most talented of players and we offer TOPSoccer for those athletes with special needs. Our statewide playing league, the Cal North Competitive Soccer League (CCSL), is designed to provide an opportunity for our more competitive players and teams to further their development against higher levels of competition. The California Regional League (CRL) with Cal South has provided an opportunity for the top premier teams in Northern and Southern California to compete with each other and demonstrate their skills to college coaches and U.S. Soccer National Team coaches.

Cal North continues to place an increased emphasis on coaching education at both the recreational and competitive levels. Cal North continues to provide the most comprehensive risk management program in youth soccer through Live Scan and background screening for all coaches and administrators.

Cal North continues to place a top level of importance on sportsmanship. This is an expectation of our players, our coaches, our administrators, our parents, our referees, and our fans. Soccer, the Beautiful Game, is one of the great learning capsules in the world. Not only are athletic skills learned, but so too are human and societal skills learned. Cal North requires respect be given to all participants associated with the youth soccer experience. The expectation of respect and fair play runs throughout our organization. We are thankful for all participants who make this great game possible…not least of which, of course, are the generous referees who provide their time and energy week in and week out.

Cal North is extremely grateful to the thousands of volunteers who serve as the backbone of our association. As parents and community members, we are thankful to all of the volunteers for the time, talents, and resources they donate to serve the interests of the game. In addition, we greatly appreciate the expertise and contributions of our paid professionals to the development of soccer in Cal North and throughout Northern California.

The commitment of the Cal North Board of Directors to youth soccer remains unequaled in Northern California and the United States. As one of the largest youth soccer state associations in US Youth Soccer, we recognize our responsibility to you and our membership and we will continue to provide appropriate programs to support both the development and play of our players while providing them a safe environment and a productive foundation to build their future.

As always, our highly trained staff at the Cal North office is available to assist you with your needs and answer any questions that you may have.
