ECFC Salinas Player Shines at 2018 National Championships
The 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championships tournament, which took place July 23-29 at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas, has concluded, the champions have been crowned and individual honors have been bestowed on players who were outstanding in their age group.
Cal North’s Alejandro Cano was identified as a top defender and named to the 14 and Under Boys Best XI team. Cano and ECFC Salinas United 04B represented Cal North and the West Region as the 14 and Under Boys West Region Champion. The team had a win, a loss and a tie in their preliminary round play advancing to semifinals where their road to a national title ended.
The Best XI team was first introduced at the 2011 National Championships. Similar to FIFA’s all-tournament concept, the Best XI recognizes the top 11 performers in each age group, irrespective of their position on the field, throughout the tournament as voted by coaches of the participating teams in that age group.
Congratulations to the ECFC Salinas United, coaches Adrian Moreno and Sergio Herrera, manager Sonya Garcia, the players Carlos Daniel Aguilar Villegas, Anthony Arevalo, Daelon Buenrostro, Alejandro Cano, Corbin Garcia, David Gonzalez, Kevin Hernandez, Alejandro Ibarra Moreno, Miguel Marcos, Luis Molinero, Adrian Morado, Victor Narez, Angel Piñon-Cruz, Fernando Rojas, Cuahutemoc Ruiz, Anthony Vega, Alonzo Vega Carpio and Francisco Zavala who represented Cal North from the beginning of the journey in Cal North’s State Cup to the culmination at National Championships. We couldn’t be more proud.
