El Camino Salinas United 04B Competes for U14 Boys National Championship
After sweeping through the competition at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships in Honolulu last month, the El Camino FC Salinas United 04B is taking on the best teams in the country for a national title at the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Frisco, Texas.
The ECFC was one of the most successful clubs in the Cal North region this season with a total of five teams advancing to regional play.
These products of Salinas had a great showing in Honolulu proving they are no fluke and that they can hold their own against club competition from anywhere in the West region.
The United ran the table with an impressive 27 goals scored vs 7 goals allowed.
Coach Adrian Moreno’s squad arrived in Frisco on Sunday July 22nd with their eyes on the prize. Following a player luncheon on Monday that includes the 96 participating teams, the coaches and managers; state representatives from the 55 state associations that comprise US Youth Soccer; officials from the National Office and US Youth Soccer Board of Directors and 96 referees selected from across the nation, the team now advances to the third and final stage of the quest for the National Championship. Champions from the Eastern, Midwest, Southern and Far West Regions will join the 40 National League qualifying teams to determine who will be crowned National Champion. The Round Robin matches take place on July 24, 25, and 26. The top two teams in each bracket will advance to semifinals on July 28 followed by championship Sunday on July 29.
