Cal North Soccer is proud to announce that Larry Svetich has been appointed the new Chairman of the Board.

The Sacramento native got started in his career like most parents, coaching teams for his son and daughter in 1989. The following year, Larry got his first referee badge and then became a member of the Natomas Soccer Club Board in 1992, the River City Youth Soccer League and District 6 Metro League Board — and PAD Chair — in 1993.

As a licensed coach, Larry has been both an assistant and head coach for recreational and competitive teams through 2002, and from 2004 to present, has been a referee instructor.

In 2013, Larry was appointed Cup Chair and was the State Youth Referee Administrator from 2015 to 2017. For the past two years, he has been a Cal North Board member.

As the new Chairman of the Board at Cal North Soccer, Larry hopes to develop a more effective way of communication, outreach and improved relationships with the clubs and leagues in every district. He also plans to work closely with the Technical Director to enhance the coaching programs at both the recreational, competitive and club team levels while providing more direct assistance to clubs and leagues for the growth of their membership.

Larry is looking to expand Cal North’s outreach, helping clubs and leagues develop programs — such as financial assistance, college outreach, field development, coaching, and after school programs — for their members. He also plans to expand outreach and involvement with communities not currently participating in any organized soccer associations as well as improve the state, regional and national level competitive programs, and outreach.

Cal North is hosting its Annual General Meeting and workshop on March 15, 2020, where people will have a chance to meet Larry and get to know him personally. Click here to learn more about Cal North’s AGM and how you can attend.
