      Albertin Montoya is a soccer coach and former player who played as a midfielder. Born in Cuba, he represented the United States internationally at youth levels.

      Montoya played for the San Francisco United All Blacks in the USISL Premier League in 1995 and Raleigh Flyers in 1997 before becoming a first-round draft pick by the San Jose Clash in 1998.

      His Bay Area ties run deep, having coached and played in the region throughout his youth, collegiate, and professional career. He served as head coach of FC Gold Pride as part of the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) League from 2009 to 2010—leading the team to a championship season in 2010—and co-head coach of California Storm as part of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) from 1999 to 2006.

      Additionally, Montoya coached the United States women's national under-17 team from 2011 to 2012 and the under-18 team in 2008. He has gone on to coach at several teams & programs in California at various capacities including the San Jose CyberRays, Santa Clara, Stanford, Washington Spirit and Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club. 

      Montoya has been recognized as the Soccer America Women’s Coach of the Year and FIFA Women’s World Coach of the Year finalist in 2010. He holds a USSF “A” License. Montoya also won a USYSA National Championship with MVLA Lightning in 2010.

      Montoya is married to Erin Martinez, also a Cal North Hall of Famer.

      On September 27, 2023, NWSL expansion team Bay FC announced Montoya had been appointed as the team's first head coach in franchise history.
