      Apply to Fill an Open Role as a Cal North Board of Director

      The California Youth Soccer Association - North (Cal North) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving all children and communities by providing opportunities that promote growth and development. Board members serve in their respective roles for two years and typically meet 6-8 times per year to work on the organization’s mission, strategy, and goals. In addition, board members also address other issues as needed, especially this season given the unique challenges created by the pandemic and historic California fires. This year the below roles are open and we are looking for qualified individuals to help our organization meet those challenges.

      Bob Asklof: Remembering the Soccer Hero In Our Backyard

      On Saturday, August 15, 2020, Robert 'Bob' Asklof, husband of 55 years to Kathleen 'Connie' Asklof, father of two children, grandfather, and youth sports community leader passed away comfortably in his own home with family at his side following an extended illness. Bob was 81.

      Bob’s friend John Murphy, Cal North Past Chairman, recalls, “I will never forget Bob’s statement to a US Soccer official after Bob and I defended CYSA against a grievance brought by US Soccer.

      Virtual Training and Academy Style Play

      In conversation with leagues and clubs, we have learned that many of you this Fall season will be conducting virtual training or other structured soccer activities that will take place via Zoom or Google Meet for the Fall Season. With restrictions still in place across Northern California we want to support your efforts to provide players a safe and healthy outlet. We know how important it is for children in our communities to be able to engage with their friends and teammates, and to participate in social and physical activities.

      New US Soccer Grassroots Coaching Education Formats

      Cal North is now taking applications to Host the New US Soccer Grassroots Coaching Education Formats

      US Soccer has released the new Blended formats for the Grassroots 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11 and D Course, and will soon release the new Virtual format. The Blended In-Person format will consist of 2 hours online guided instruction with a US Soccer licensed instructor.

      US Youth Soccer Restructuring National League Program

      Beginning this season US Youth Soccer's recently restructured National League will now feature the National League Series and National League Playoffs. Applications for the National League Showcase events are now being accepted. These events are for the very top level teams across the nation and over the years some of Cal North’s elite level teams have participated in the National League.

      The USYS National League has been split into three sections of competitions with 13 regional conferences.
