Mountain View, CA (October 29, 2024) - The Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) and the San Francisco Travel Association, the official destination marketing organization for the City and County of San Francisco, have announced an innovative partnership that’s part of the BAHC’s Alliance Partner Program. BAHC Alliance Partners are essential contributors to the BAHC's mission to unite the region through sport by connecting communities.
“San Francisco Travel is more than a partner, they are the ultimate city resource, working to promote San Francisco as one of the world’s premier tourism destinations,” said Zaileen Janmohamed, President & CEO of BAHC. “It’s an honor for the Bay Area Host Committee to help solidify San Francisco as the epicenter of sport culture with three major global sporting events taking place in the Bay in the next two years.”
San Francisco Travel is a non-profit, local business association founded in 1909 to reclaim the City's position as a world-class location in the wake of the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire. San Francisco Travel continues that mission today, aggressively marketing and selling San Francisco to attract visitors.
“As we look ahead to hosting these diverse global sporting events in our backyard, we are focused on showcasing San Francisco as one of the premier sports travel destinations in the world,” said Anna Marie Presutti, President and CEO of San Francisco Travel. “Our city is primed and ready to welcome sports fans from around the world, and we can’t wait to show them what an incredible host city they have selected in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area region.”
San Francisco Travel is the largest destination marketing organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. In partnership with BAHC, San Francisco Travel is spearheading efforts to execute planned sports events in the region, promote associated activations and confirm future events. This partnership builds upon the many Bay Area-wide initiatives and partner activations that the BAHC will focus on in the lead-up to the trio of global sporting events, which continues to be a cross-regional effort.
In addition to plans specific to Superbowl LX and FIFA World Cup 2026 that will be announced at a later date, there will be numerous activities and activations in and around these events across San Francisco, heading into NBA All-Star 2025, including:
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s newly unveiled “Get in the Game: Sports, Art, Culture” exhibit, along with six sports-related companion exhibitions, features roughly 200 objects in different mediums showcased on several floors and runs through February 18.
The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) will debut a “Love + Basketball” exhibit timed to next year’s NBA All-Star Game on view from Feb. 5 to March 2, 2025.
NBA All-Star activations at Moscone Center and neighboring businesses will celebrate the event throughout the city.
As part of the partnership, San Francisco Travel will have an Executive Representative seat on the BAHC Advisory Board.
With support from the area’s preeminent leaders and professional sports teams—including the Golden State Warriors, the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, the Golden State Valkyries, the Bay Area Football Club (Bay FC), San Jose Earthquakes, and San Jose Sharks—the Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) and San Francisco Travel are bringing the best in global sport to the Bay while celebrating the diversity, innovation, and fandom that make the Bay Area region unique.
