PHOENIX, Arizona (Jan. 3, 2025) - The Cal North Olympic Development Program will be competing at the 2025 US Youth Soccer ODP Far West Championships presented by WorldStrides taking place at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Arizona. The event is scheduled to be played from January 3-6, 2025.
Some of the best players from Alaska, Arizona, Cal North, Cal South, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming will be showcasing their skills & abilities in front of college coaches & USYS Regional staff. At the same time, these players will be representing themselves, their families, and their state in search of a regional title.
The 2009 Boys continue to be the shining light during the ODP Far West Championships for the boys side, having reached the finals in two of the previous three occasions. In 2022 they lost to Washington and in 2024 they came up short against Arizona. Led once again by longtime Cal North ODP Head Coach German Plaza, they'll look to finally taste regional glory this year. Spearheading this 2009 Boys team that is loaded with talent are regional ODP players in Jayson Wu (Association Football Club) and Cristiano Briceño (AC Marin/Atletico de Madrid).
Perhaps the 2011 Boys team is another to keep an eye on. Head Coach David Briceño will be taking this group for the first time and will look to build upon what Coach Lee Dunne accomplished last year. This team will have Edgar Nava Jr. (Sacramento United SC), a regional ODP selection among other talented 2011's from Northern California.
There will be familiar and new states competing at 2025 US Youth Soccer ODP Far West Championships presented by WorldStrides. Returning for a second consecutive year to the ODP Far West Championships are Illinois, Iowa and Eastern Pennsylvania, welcoming newcomers North Texas and Michigan.
A select amount of games will be live-streamed during the event and available to watch. You can see full list of Cal North ODP matches that will be live-streamed here.
