PHOENIX, Arizona (Jan. 3, 2025) - The Cal North Olympic Development Program will be competing at the 2025 US Youth Soccer ODP Far West Championships presented by WorldStrides taking place at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Arizona. The event is scheduled to be played from January 3-6, 2025.
Some of the best players from Alaska, Arizona, Cal North, Cal South, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming will be showcasing their skills & abilities in front of college coaches & USYS Regional staff. At the same time, these players will be representing themselves, their families, and their state in search of a regional title.
Cal North ODP Girls' teams tend to have good participation at this event. The 2009 Girls team led once again by Coach Garrett Morgan will be one to keep an eye on, as this team has reached the finals in 2022 and 2023. This time though, they'll have to find a way to reach that stage again without U-16 U.S. Women's Youth National Team player Kendall Conway (Lamorinda SC).
Another team that is full of promising rising stars is the 2011 group who reached the final in their first year. The backline will once again be anchored by regional ODP player Sally Burns (De Anza Force) and a midfield orchestrated by Portia Cummings (SF Aftershocks) and Kinsley Ozawa (MVLA). Attacking power up front will be provided by Saige Scarborough (Davis Legacy) who is not only a regional ODP player, but was also invited to the U.S. Talent ID event in Northern California last year. Coaching from the sidelines will be Head Coach Bryan Holland for a second consecutive year.
The 2010 Girls team is a powerhouse that is looking to win this event three times in a row, first time under Head Coach Gordy Lang. The team is led by U-15 U.S. Women's Youth National Team players Sadie Siedel (Mustang SC) and Vivian Baker (De Anza Force) along with a handful of regional ODP players in Yasmine El-refai (Mustang SC), Briella Rose Perham (MVLA), Alena Raymundo (Lamorinda SC) and Kaitlyn Ventura (San Juan SC).
There will be familiar and new states competing at 2025 US Youth Soccer ODP Far West Championships presented by WorldStrides. Returning for a second consecutive year to the ODP Far West Championships are Illinois, Iowa and Eastern Pennsylvania, welcoming newcomers North Texas and Michigan.
A select amount of games will be live-streamed during the event and available to watch. You can see full list of Cal North ODP matches that will be live-streamed here.
