      Olympic Development Program

A National Effort to Identify, Evaluate, Train and Compete against the Most Skilled Soccer Players in the United States

It's no secret that California produces some of the most talented & gifted soccer players in the country. Eight out of 23 players on the 2023 USWNT FIFA World Cup roster were born in the state of California. In the 2023 MLS Player Demographics report, California was the #1 state that developed & produced MLS soccer players with 61 individuals born in the Golden State.

The Olympic Development Program is a national process for identifying and developing the best youth soccer players. The process promotes players to the U.S. National Teams, which represent the United States in international competition, such as the Youth World Cup and the Olympics.

Cal North ODP is dedicated to developing the highest level of youth soccer in an atmosphere of integrity, fairness and impartiality. The player’s physical and cognitive skills and attitude are the only criteria for the program.

The Cal North Olympic Development Program is directly affiliated with the USOC, US Soccer and US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program formed in 1977. The Olympic Development Program is a national identification and development program for players of the highest-level. Each state association identifies and develops youth players throughout the country to represent their State Association and the United States in Regional, National, and International soccer competitions.

Participation in ODP does not disqualify a player from participating in their home clubs.

      ODP Structure

There are several levels of ODP: State, Regional and the Youth National teams.

      State ODP

State ODP is administrated at the State level by the Cal North ManagingDirector and Technical Directors. All information regarding State ODP will be posted on the Cal North website.
