DANVILLE, Calif. (December 17, 2023) - Palo Alto's only team at the U9-U12 Cal North State Cup bring home The Cup and represent the club well. The 2014G Blue team from Palo Alto are also Cal North CCSL participants and 2nd place finishers in Fall 2023 league, playing up an age group.
"It's been a great experience," said Coach Henry Arredondo. "It was good for the girls, it was a positive experience especially ending our season with a championship and we hope to participate every year," he added.
Coach Arredondo has been working with this team since July and has noticed significant progress since he took over the team.
"When I met with the directors they wanted me to work with this group, its a good group of players, very talented group of players," he said. "Some of these girls are actually 2013's that are playing 2014's. Very technical, very talented and I think there is a lot of upside with this age group."
The 2014G Blue team has played a lot of soccer this Fall, playing in two leagues and gaining the most benefit from Cal North's CCSL league.
"We competed in two leagues. We competed in CCSL playing up for 9v9 and then we competed in a 7v7 league, so we were really testing the boundaries for the players and I think the 9v9 with CCSL really prepared them," added Coach Arredondo.
The Palo Alto SC 14G Blue team won all three of their games at the 2023-2024 Cal North State Cup against Fresno's Magic SC, Silicon Valley's ALBION SC and Yuba's Elite FC. Bringing the State Cup to Palo Alto SC and representing well as the only team from the club at this event.
The 2023-2024 Cal North State Cup for all U13-U19 age groups will be taking place on April 13-14, 2024 at Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center in Morgan Hill, California.
